How to Read PLU sticker on Fruits and Vegetables

This is a an easy way to tell if a fruit or vegetable is Organic, Non Organic, or GMO (genetically modified organism). Refer to the PLU(price look up) sticker found on the fruit or vegetable.

• Non Organic grown consists of a PLU of 4 numbers ie: 4446
• Organically grown consists of a PLU of 5 numers prefaced by a 9 ie: 94446
• GMO fruits and vegetables consist of a PLU of 5 numbers prefaced by a 8 ie: 84446
